RingCentral AI Receptionist Alternatives 2026: AI Receptionist Pricing Compared

Published · prices checked October 26, 2026

Key takeaways

  • At 13 three-minute calls a day RingCentral AI Receptionist costs $584 and Goodcall $129, the least of the alternatives we priced (prices checked October 26, 2026).
  • RingCentral bills every minute past 100 and rounds each call up to 30 seconds; Dialzara meters to the second and Upfirst skips calls under 15 seconds.
  • RingCentral still costs less than Smith.ai AI Receptionist at 3, 5 and 13 calls a day, and less than NextPhone and Rosie at 3 a day.
  • Seven of the nine alternatives cost less than RingCentral at 5 and at 13 calls a day; Simple Phones publishes no price past 100 calls.

At 13 three-minute calls a day, RingCentral AI Receptionist costs $584 a month and Goodcall, the lowest-cost alternative in our table at that volume, costs $129 (prices checked October 26, 2026). RingCentral's gap grows with volume, because every minute past 100 bills at one rate.

What does RingCentral AI Receptionist cost?

RingCentral AI Receptionist costs from $49/month (100 minutes), then $0.50 a minute, rounded up to the next 30 seconds. At 3, 5 and 13 three-minute calls a day it costs $134, $224 and $584 a month. The RingEX add-on and every billing rule are on the RingCentral AI Receptionist pricing page.

Our arithmetic: each vendor's cheapest published plan for that volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls over 30 days. Goodcall bills per unique caller; we count every call as a new caller. Taxes, setup fees and add-ons are not included. Simple Phones publishes no price past 100 calls, so its cost above that is not computable. How we price.

At 13 calls a day Goodcall costs the least of the alternatives. At 3 calls a day Upfirst costs the least, $59.95. At both 5 and 13 calls a day, Goodcall, Rosie, Upfirst, NextPhone, Phonely, My AI Front Desk and Dialzara all cost less than RingCentral.

NextPhone's bill does not move when calls double from 13 to 26 a day; Rosie's largest plan stops at 2,000 minutes, so its cost at 26 a day is not computable. Over the same step RingCentral's goes from $584 to $1,169.

Same product, different bill: the RingEX add-on

The cheaper-looking RingCentral price is not an alternative. The add-on starts at $39 a month "also with 100 minutes included", but only on a RingEX phone plan, whose bundle card adds "$30 /month for RingEX Core Plan" (ringcentral.com/pricing/ai-receptionist.html, read October 26, 2026). It is the same receptionist, the same minutes and the same rounding.

How each one bills a 31-second call

RingCentral's own rule is the reason short calls matter: "Call time is rounded up and billed in 30-second increments." A 31-second wrong number uses a full minute. The alternatives meter the same call five different ways:

ServiceA 31-second call counts asThe vendor's words
RingCentral AI Receptionist1 minute"rounded up and billed in 30-second increments"
Dialzara31 seconds"Usage tracked to the second"
Rosie1 minute"rounded up to the next 60-second mark"
Upfirst1 call; under 15 seconds, nothing"We also don't bill for calls under 15 seconds"
Smith.ai AI Receptionist1 call"Every call answered by your AI Receptionist counts toward your call quota by default"
Goodcall1 caller, once a month"We never meter minutes, calls or tokens"
NextPhoneNothing extra"flat, with unlimited inbound calls"

What each alternative does better and worse than RingCentral AI Receptionist

Goodcall

Better: at 13 calls a day RingCentral costs $455 a month more than Goodcall. Goodcall bills per unique caller, and its FAQ says "Spam and wrong numbers don't count." (goodcall.com/faq, read October 27, 2026)

Worse: there is no trial, and porting in is not offered: "Not yourself yet. Forwarding gives you the same result today without moving your number." (same FAQ) At 50 calls a month RingCentral costs less, $74 against $79.

Rosie

Better: Rosie costs $299 at 13 calls a day, less than RingCentral, and its bill stays at $149 from 3 to 11 calls a day, inside its Scale plan's 1,000 minutes.

Worse: at 3 calls a day it costs $149, more than RingCentral's $134. It rounds coarser, to the full minute, and going over moves you up a plan: "Rosie will automatically upgrade the Subscriber to a higher Subscription Plan to cover the additional Services Minutes usage." (heyrosie.com/legal/terms, read October 27, 2026)

Upfirst

Better: the least of the alternatives at 3 calls a day, $59.95, and Upfirst skips the short calls RingCentral rounds up: "We also don't bill for calls under 15 seconds or calls where the caller never speaks" (upfirst.ai/pricing, read October 27, 2026).

Worse: it bills by the call, so a 20-second question past the 15-second line uses a whole call from the plan. Past the allowance, extra calls cost $0.70 to $1.50 a call, depending on the plan.

NextPhone

Better: NextPhone costs $199 at 13 calls a day and at any other volume. Its pricing page calls the price "flat, with unlimited inbound calls" (getnextphone.com/pricing, read October 26, 2026).

Worse: at 3 calls a day RingCentral costs less, $134 against $199. RingCentral costs more than NextPhone only from about 134 calls a month.

Phonely

Better: at 5 calls a day Phonely costs $112.50 to $137.50, against RingCentral's $224, and a free plan of 100 minutes lets you test it without paying.

Worse: its own page prints two different Starter allowances and overage rates, so its costs at 3 and 5 calls a day are ranges. Minutes after a transfer can bill too: "which is why post-transfer minutes may be billed." (phonely.ai/pricing, read October 26, 2026)

My AI Front Desk

Better: at 13 calls a day My AI Front Desk costs $331.50, less than RingCentral, and its plan also carries chat, texting and a CRM.

Worse: at 50 calls a month RingCentral costs less, $74 against $99. Its terms bill usage during the trial: "You will still be responsible for usage fees, as defined in section eleven, despite being on a free trial." (myaifrontdesk.com/terms-of-service, read October 27, 2026)

Dialzara

Better: Dialzara costs less than RingCentral at 3 calls a day, $121.50, and at 13, $408.50. It meters to the second: "Usage tracked to the second - partial minutes are not rounded up." (dialzara.com/pricing, read October 27, 2026)

Worse: when included minutes run out without auto-recharge, calls stop being answered: "If it hits zero, callers go straight to voicemail." (same page)

Smith.ai AI Receptionist

Better: a permanent free plan for small volumes, and per-call billing, so call length does not change the base charge on Smith.ai.

Worse: it costs more than RingCentral at 3, 5 and 13 calls a day: $695.30 at 13 a day. Spam counts unless you remove it, within a cap: "Every call answered by your AI Receptionist counts toward your call quota by default." (smith.ai/pricing/ai-receptionist, read October 26, 2026) The full comparison is RingCentral AI Receptionist vs Smith.ai.

Simple Phones

Better: at 3 calls a day Simple Phones costs $97, less than RingCentral, and it bills per call, not per minute.

Worse: it publishes nothing past its 100-call tier, and going over costs you the number: "If you cancel your plan, or you exceed the number of calls per month for your tier, your phone numbers will be released." (simplephones.ai/pricing, read October 26, 2026)

Where RingCentral AI Receptionist is still the better buy

At 50 three-minute calls a month it costs $74, less than Goodcall, Simple Phones, My AI Front Desk and NextPhone; Rosie, Phonely, Upfirst and Dialzara cost less there. At 3 calls a day it still costs less than Rosie, NextPhone and Smith.ai AI Receptionist.

If your office already runs on RingEX, the add-on keeps the receptionist inside the system that holds your numbers and extensions. And at every volume in the table it costs less than Smith.ai AI Receptionist.

Against a hire: one full-time receptionist on the BLS median wage costs $4,399 a month with benefits and turnover, against RingCentral's $584 at 13 calls a day: hire vs AI receptionist.

Which alternative fits which situation

Best for 13 calls a day: Goodcall

$129 a month at 13 calls a day, the least of the alternatives in the table. It may not fit if you need to port your number in.

Best at 3 calls a day: Upfirst

$59.95 at 3 calls a day, with calls under 15 seconds left off the bill. At 13 a day it costs $227.45, more than Goodcall.

Best flat bill at 13 calls a day: NextPhone

$199 a month at 13 calls a day and at any other volume, less than Rosie's $299 at 13. Rosie's bill is lower, $149, only up to 11 calls a day, and above its largest plan the price is not published. NextPhone costs more than RingCentral at 3 calls a day.

Best for short calls billed by the second: Dialzara

No rounding at all, against RingCentral's 30 seconds. It costs $199 at 5 calls a day, and calls go to voicemail if the minutes run out.

How to switch from RingCentral AI Receptionist

  1. Use the new vendor's trial first. Upfirst, Rosie, Dialzara, My AI Front Desk, NextPhone and Simple Phones publish trials, and Phonely and Smith.ai free plans. Goodcall offers only a demo agent without a number.
  2. Forwarded lines are the easy case. The standalone plan works "using call forwarding or SIP-based integrations" (ringcentral.com/ai-receptionist.html, read October 26, 2026). Point the forward at the new service's number and the old one stops receiving calls.
  3. Ported numbers need a written answer. RingCentral lets you "port your existing line" in, but its AI Receptionist pricing page says nothing about porting out or a contract term. Ask before you cancel.
  4. Run both for a day. Test the new receptionist on its own number before moving your main line.

How these numbers were made

Every vendor price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date in its Source cell and saved as a dated capture. Monthly costs use each vendor's cheapest published plan for the volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. The in-house figure uses the BLS median wage for receptionists over 2,080 paid hours (paid leave included), other employer benefit costs and turnover, each from the BLS release named below. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

Changes to these prices

  • Upfirst: cancellation notice recorded as none. Its pricing FAQ says "You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade anytime, no questions asked," the same strength as other cancel-anytime terms. Its setup-fee summary now reads "None stated": no page says there is no fee. No price changed.
  • My AI Front Desk: the 1,000 monthly overage credits its pricing page lists as included ("Extra credits you get each month in case you go over your included usage") now count as 40 included minutes, so Business-in-a-Box covers 240 minutes before the $0.25 rate applies (was 200).
  • Phonely: its Professional plan card says 650 minutes and its comparison table 750; the card is used. When two plans tie on their lowest cost, the one with the narrower range is chosen, so Phonely at 300 calls a month prices on Professional alone.
