My AI Front Desk Alternatives 2026: AI Receptionist Pricing Compared

Published · prices checked October 26, 2026

Key takeaways

  • At 13 three-minute calls a day My AI Front Desk costs $331.50 a month, and Goodcall $129, the least in our table (prices checked October 26, 2026).
  • My AI Front Desk bills every minute past 240 at $0.25 a minute, so it loses ground as calls rise: at 5 calls a day Rosie costs $149 against its $151.50.
  • At 3 calls a day it still costs less than Dialzara, RingCentral AI Receptionist, Rosie, Smith.ai AI Receptionist and NextPhone.
  • Frontdesk sells its software to resellers who put their own brand on it, so another name can run on the same platform.

At 13 three-minute calls a day, My AI Front Desk costs $331.50 a month and Goodcall, the lowest-cost AI receptionist in our table at that volume, costs $129 (prices checked October 26, 2026). The gap comes from overage: My AI Front Desk bills every minute past 240.

What does My AI Front Desk cost?

My AI Front Desk, now branded Frontdesk, sells one self-serve plan: $99/month for 240 minutes: 200 voice plus a 1,000-credit pool worth 40. At 3, 5 and 13 three-minute calls a day it costs $106.50, $151.50 and $331.50 a month. The overage credits, the trial terms and every fee are on the My AI Front Desk pricing page.

Our arithmetic: each vendor's cheapest published plan for that volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls over 30 days. Simple Phones publishes no price past 100 calls a month, so its cells at 5 and 13 calls a day cannot be computed. Goodcall's row counts every call as a different caller, the most its per-caller billing can charge. Goodcall bills per unique caller; we count every call as a new caller. Taxes, setup fees and add-ons are not included. How we price.

At 13 calls a day, Goodcall costs the least of the services in the table, and Goodcall, NextPhone, Upfirst and Rosie all cost less than My AI Front Desk. Phonely's cost at that volume is a range, $292.50 to $389.50, with My AI Front Desk inside it. Upfirst takes the low end at 3 calls a day, at $59.95.

One row reads "No change" when calls double from 13 to 26 a day: NextPhone's. Rosie's reads "Not computable", because its largest published plan, Growth, holds 2,000 minutes and 26 three-minute calls a day use 2,340. My AI Front Desk's row reads +$292.50 for the same step, all of it overage.

Same software, another name

Frontdesk runs a reseller program. Its pricing page: "Frontdesk partners buy at a wholesale rate, resell under their own brand, and control tiering, minute packages, and usage-based billing" (myaifrontdesk.com/pricing, read October 27, 2026). White-label partner plans "start at $500 per month", per the same page.

So an AI receptionist sold under an agency's name may run on Frontdesk underneath, with prices the reseller sets. If an offer looks like a switch away from My AI Front Desk, ask the seller which platform answers the calls. None of the services in the table above says it resells Frontdesk.

What each alternative does better and worse than My AI Front Desk

Goodcall

Better: Goodcall bills per unique caller, not per minute, so a long call costs nothing extra. At 13 calls a day My AI Front Desk costs $203 a month more. Its FAQ: "Spam and wrong numbers don't count." (goodcall.com/faq, read October 27, 2026)

Worse: there is no trial: "You get a free demo agent instead," per the same FAQ.

Rosie

Better: Rosie costs $299 at 13 calls a day, $33 less than My AI Front Desk. Its Scale plan's 1,000 minutes cover up to 11 three-minute calls a day at one price, $149; 13 a day needs Growth.

Worse: going over moves you up a plan, and the higher price applies to "the then-current monthly billing period and at least the subsequent two consecutive billing periods" (heyrosie.com/legal/terms, read October 27, 2026). At 3 calls a day My AI Front Desk costs less: $106.50 against $149.

Upfirst

Better: Upfirst costs $59.95 at 3 calls a day, the least in the table. It bills per call and skips the junk: "We use AI to automatically detect and block spam, telemarketing, and other robocalls, so they don't count against your plan." (upfirst.ai/pricing, read October 27, 2026)

Worse: per-call billing climbs with volume: $227.45 at 13 calls a day, more than Goodcall and NextPhone at that volume.

NextPhone

Better: NextPhone is $199/month (unlimited calls), with no overage, so the bill is the same at any volume. At 13 calls a day My AI Front Desk costs $133 more.

Worse: at 3 calls a day NextPhone costs $199, more than My AI Front Desk's $106.50. The flat price only pays off from about 214 calls a month.

Phonely

Better: Phonely has a free plan of 100 minutes, and its paid plans start at $50/month (200 minutes). At 5 calls a day it costs $112.50 to $137.50, less than My AI Front Desk's $151.50. At 13 calls a day its cost is a range, $292.50 to $389.50, and My AI Front Desk's $331.50 falls inside it.

Worse: its pricing page disagrees with itself on Starter's minutes and overage rate, so at 3, 5 and 13 calls a day its costs print as ranges. My AI Front Desk bundles a CRM of its own; Phonely's cards list "CRM integrations" on Professional, not Starter.

Dialzara

Better: Dialzara meters to the second: "Usage tracked to the second - partial minutes are not rounded up." (dialzara.com/pricing, read October 27, 2026) My AI Front Desk publishes no rounding rule at all.

Worse: it costs more at every volume in the table: $408.50 at 13 calls a day. Its FAQ warns that if prepaid minutes hit zero, "callers go straight to voicemail" unless auto-recharge is on.

RingCentral AI Receptionist

Better: RingCentral AI Receptionist is from $49/month (100 minutes), with a 14-day trial. Its pricing page sells "AI Receptionists that work with any phone system", so it sits in front of the line you already have.

Worse: its overage is $0.50 a minute against My AI Front Desk's $0.25 a minute, and "Call time is rounded up and billed in 30-second increments." (ringcentral.com/pricing/ai-receptionist.html, read October 26, 2026) At 13 calls a day it costs $584.

Smith.ai AI Receptionist

Better: Smith.ai has a free plan for 25 calls, and a call the AI cannot handle "can be transferred to a live North America-based receptionist" (smith.ai/pricing/ai-receptionist, read October 26, 2026). My AI Front Desk's call transfers go to numbers you set.

Worse: at 13 calls a day it costs $695.30, the most of the priced rows in the table. Cancelling takes notice: "If you ever cancel, we need 30 days' notice, and then you're done," per the same page.

Simple Phones

Better: Simple Phones costs $97 at 3 calls a day, less than My AI Front Desk, and bills per call, so call length does not change the bill.

Worse: it publishes no price past 100 calls a month. Its FAQ: "If you cancel your plan, or you exceed the number of calls per month for your tier, your phone numbers will be released." (simplephones.ai/pricing, read October 26, 2026)

Where My AI Front Desk is still the better buy

At 3 calls a day My AI Front Desk costs less than Dialzara, RingCentral AI Receptionist, Rosie, Smith.ai AI Receptionist and NextPhone. At 13 calls a day it still costs less than Dialzara, RingCentral AI Receptionist and Smith.ai AI Receptionist.

Its plan also carries 100 chatbot conversations, 400 texts and a CRM. If you would otherwise pay for web chat and texting separately, compare against your total, not the phone line alone.

Which alternative fits which situation

Best for 13 calls a day: Goodcall

Goodcall costs $129 at 13 calls a day, the least of the services in the table. Repeat callers cost less still. It may not fit if you want a trial on your own number first.

Best at 3 calls a day: Upfirst

At 3 calls a day Upfirst costs $59.95, the least in the table, with spam and robocalls unbilled. Per-call billing makes it dearer than Goodcall and NextPhone once you reach 13 calls a day.

Best for a bill that does not move: NextPhone

NextPhone is $199/month (unlimited calls), so no month can run over: it is the only row in the table whose bill stays the same from 13 to 26 calls a day. My AI Front Desk costs less until about 214 calls a month.

Best flat bill under 11 calls a day: Rosie

Rosie's Scale plan costs $149 at 3 and 5 calls a day, less than NextPhone's $199. Its 1,000 minutes run out at about 11 three-minute calls a day; at 13 a day Rosie costs $299, and passing an allowance moves you up a plan for three billing periods.

How to switch from My AI Front Desk without losing calls

  1. Cancel at the end of a cycle. The terms: "Following cancellation, your access to the Service will persist until the end of the current billing period." (myaifrontdesk.com/terms-of-service, read October 27, 2026) Run the new service through that period.
  2. Expect no refund on a yearly plan. "Refunds are generally not provided," per the same terms, so a prepaid annual plan runs to its end.
  3. Ask about your number first. Neither the pricing page nor the terms say whether a number can be ported out. If your callers dial a number My AI Front Desk gave you, ask support before you cancel.
  4. Forward instead of porting where you can. Simple Phones' FAQ says you can keep your existing number by forwarding missed calls or all calls to the number it assigns.

One full-time receptionist on the BLS median wage costs $4,399 a month with benefits and turnover, 13.3 times My AI Front Desk at 13 calls a day. Every AI receptionist with a published price costs less than that at 13 calls a day: hire vs AI receptionist.

How these numbers were made

Every vendor price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date in its Source cell and saved as a dated capture. Monthly costs use each vendor's cheapest published plan for the volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. The in-house figure uses the BLS median wage for receptionists over 2,080 paid hours (paid leave included), other employer benefit costs and turnover, each from the BLS release named below. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

  • Upfirst: cancellation notice recorded as none. Its pricing FAQ says "You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade anytime, no questions asked," the same strength as other cancel-anytime terms. Its setup-fee summary now reads "None stated": no page says there is no fee. No price changed.
  • My AI Front Desk: the 1,000 monthly overage credits its pricing page lists as included ("Extra credits you get each month in case you go over your included usage") now count as 40 included minutes, so Business-in-a-Box covers 240 minutes before the $0.25 rate applies (was 200).
