Our arithmetic: each vendor's cheapest published plan for 150 calls a month plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. Higher vendor plans an integration needs, Zapier and your Lawmatics subscription are not included. How we price.

Lawmatics lists Smith.ai and Abby Connect on its own integrations pages. NextPhone's cell rests on NextPhone's page alone. None of the three has been connected to a Lawmatics account of ours, so each row is what the listing or the vendor says. Every tool and vendor is on the integration matrix.

New prospect or updated contact: what lands in Lawmatics

Lawmatics automations fire when a contact or matter appears, so what a receptionist does with a repeat caller decides whether they fire again.

ReceptionistNew callerCaller already in LawmaticsBooks a consult in Lawmatics
Smith.aiNew contact, with summary notesContact updatedYes, by its virtual receptionists
Abby ConnectMatter and contact createdContact updatedScheduled per your rules, noted on the lead
NextPhoneNew prospectAnother new prospectNo, by its own page

Smith.ai. Its Lawmatics listing says "new contacts will be created and existing contacts will be updated after each call, complete with the post-call summary notes" (lawmatics.com/integrations/smith-ai, read October 27, 2026). Booking is named for people, not the AI: "Schedule appointments directly in your Lawmatics calendar using virtual receptionist," per the same listing. Smith.ai's own Lawmatics page lists its AI Receptionist, with a separate connection guide (smith.ai/integrates-with/lawmatics, read October 27, 2026).

Abby Connect. Lawmatics' listing reads "Matter and contact created in Lawmatics from prospective-client calls answered by Abby Connect", and adds "Referral source logged on the matter for marketing attribution" (lawmatics.com/integrations/abby-connect, read October 27, 2026). Abby's own page says existing clients are handled "without creating duplicate leads in your pipeline" (abby.com/integration/lawmatics, read October 27, 2026). That page describes its human receptionists; it does not say whether Abby's AI receptionist writes the same way.

NextPhone. Its page says "Every call creates its own prospect, so nothing merges together or gets lost, even for callers who never leave an email" (getnextphone.com/integrations/lawmatics, read October 27, 2026). A client who calls three times becomes three prospects, and each can fire your intake sequence. It also says "The Lawmatics integration files a prospect and hands off to your intake automations", so booking needs its Clio or calendar integration instead.

Plans and setup

NextPhone puts the Lawmatics integration on its Growth plan, set up by its team, at $299/month for unlimited calls. The table shows its Pro plan at $199, which is the cheapest NextPhone plan for 150 calls but not the one that carries Lawmatics.

Smith.ai's live receptionists pricing page charges "$0.50/call per additional CRM" (smith.ai/pricing/receptionists, read October 26, 2026). A firm that runs Lawmatics for intake and Clio for matters would connect two systems.

Abby Connect builds the connection during onboarding and calls it "no connector tools to maintain" (abby.com/integration/lawmatics, read October 27, 2026). At 5 calls a day it costs $1,346.50, billed by the minute.

Three Lawmatics claims the matrix does not count as built in

Ruby. Ruby's integrations page shows a Lawmatics card: "Automate lead capture, analytics, and follow-up when Ruby answers your phone or chats with a website visitor" (ruby.com/solutions/integrations, read October 27, 2026). Its help center's Lawmatics article returned a 404 that day, and Lawmatics does not list Ruby. Ruby documents Zapier, so the cell is via Zapier.

RingCentral. Lawmatics lists RingCentral: "All your inbound and outbound calls through RingCentral are automatically logged within Lawmatics" (lawmatics.com/integrations/ringcentral, read October 27, 2026). That is the phone system's call log. It does not name RingCentral AI Receptionist, whose cell stays not documented.

My AI Front Desk. Its law-firm pages promise "Native integrations with Clio, MyCase, Lawmatics" (myaifrontdesk.com, read October 27, 2026). Its integrations page and help center list no Lawmatics integration, so My AI Front Desk counts as via Zapier.

What "via Zapier" means for Lawmatics

11 of 18 vendors we track connect this way: Bland, Dialzara, Goodcall, My AI Front Desk, Phonely, Posh, Retell AI, Rosie, Ruby, Synthflow and Upfirst. Lawmatics' Zapier app has four write actions: "Create Appointment", "Create Company", "Create Contact" and "Create Matter" (zapier.com/apps/lawmatics, read October 27, 2026).

A Zap fires after the call ends, so it can file the caller but cannot book a consult while they are on the line. It has no "update contact" action in that list, which means repeat callers need a search step you build yourself. Zapier lists ready pairs for Phonely, Retell AI and Bland with Lawmatics. You build the Zap and pay Zapier for the tasks it runs.

At 3 calls a day, Upfirst costs $59.95, less than Phonely, Goodcall, My AI Front Desk, Dialzara and Rosie, the other AI receptionists on the Zapier route.

What to ask before you buy

  • What happens when an existing contact calls: an update, or a new prospect?
  • Does the AI receptionist write the same fields as the human receptionists? Smith.ai names its AI on its own page; Abby's Lawmatics page names only people.
  • Can it book a consult on the Lawmatics calendar during the call, or only file the lead?
  • Which pipeline stage do new phone leads enter? Abby says you set it at onboarding.
  • Which plan carries the integration, and is it set up for you?
  • Will a test call land in your own Lawmatics before you pay?

Which one fits which firm

If repeat callers must update one record: Smith.ai or Abby Connect. Both listings describe updating existing contacts. Smith.ai's AI plan costs $187.50 at 3 calls a day and $695.30 at 13, billed per call. Abby Connect puts a person on the line at $808.30 at 3 calls a day.

If every call should start your intake sequence, set up for you: NextPhone. Its Growth plan, $299/month for unlimited calls, does not change with volume. Lawmatics does not list it, and duplicates from repeat callers are yours to merge.

If you will build the Zap yourself at low volume: Upfirst. It costs the least of the AI receptionists on the Zapier route at 3 calls a day. Every Upfirst plan card lists "Zapier integration" (upfirst.ai/pricing, read October 26, 2026).

Firms comparing practice software can see AI receptionists that write to Clio and AI receptionists that write to MyCase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI receptionists are listed on Lawmatics' integrations page?

Smith.ai and Abby Connect have listings on Lawmatics' integrations pages, read October 27, 2026. RingCentral also has one, but it covers RingCentral's phone system and names no AI receptionist. NextPhone describes a direct Lawmatics integration on its own page without a Lawmatics listing.

Does an AI receptionist trigger Lawmatics automations?

NextPhone and Abby Connect both say a new phone lead enters Lawmatics like a web lead, so your existing sequences run. NextPhone files a new prospect for every call, so a repeat caller can trigger the sequence again. Ask any vendor to show this on a test call.

Can an AI receptionist book consultations in Lawmatics?

Smith.ai's Lawmatics listing names its virtual receptionists, the live staff, for booking on the Lawmatics calendar. Abby Connect says qualified callers can be scheduled with the booking noted on the lead. NextPhone's page says its Lawmatics integration files a prospect and does not book.

Does Ruby integrate with Lawmatics?

Ruby shows a Lawmatics card on its integrations page, but its help center article for Lawmatics returned a 404 on October 27, 2026, and Lawmatics does not list Ruby. Ruby documents Zapier, so a connection runs through a Zap you build and pay Zapier for.

How these numbers were made

Every vendor price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date in its Source cell and saved as a dated capture. Monthly costs use each vendor's cheapest published plan for the volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

Changes to these prices

  • Upfirst: cancellation notice recorded as none. Its pricing FAQ says "You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade anytime, no questions asked," the same strength as other cancel-anytime terms. Its setup-fee summary now reads "None stated": no page says there is no fee. No price changed.
  • Retell AI: corrected the transfer term. Its pricing page says "Once the call is transferred, the AI voice agent fee stops. Only the telephony fee continues for the remainder of the transferred call." The index had said the whole call was billed after a transfer. No price changed.
  • My AI Front Desk: the 1,000 monthly overage credits its pricing page lists as included ("Extra credits you get each month in case you go over your included usage") now count as 40 included minutes, so Business-in-a-Box covers 240 minutes before the $0.25 rate applies (was 200).
  • Phonely: its Professional plan card says 650 minutes and its comparison table 750; the card is used. When two plans tie on their lowest cost, the one with the narrower range is chosen, so Phonely at 300 calls a month prices on Professional alone.
  • My AI Front Desk: billing-term summaries (billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam, setup fee, contract, trial) added from the vendor-data billing-terms and contracts files and their captures. No price changed.
  • Simple Phones: billing-term summaries (billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam, setup fee, contract, trial) added from the vendor-data billing-terms and contracts files and their captures. No price changed.

  • Rosie added from its own pricing page (captured October 26, 2026), with billing terms from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 27, 2026). Rosie moves an account up a plan instead of charging overage.
  • Goodcall added from its own pricing page (captured October 26, 2026), with billing terms from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 27, 2026). Goodcall bills per unique caller a month; our arithmetic counts every call as a different caller.
  • Dialzara added from its own pricing page (captured October 26, 2026), with billing terms from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 27, 2026).
  • Upfirst added from its own pricing page (captured October 26, 2026), with billing terms from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 27, 2026). Upfirst does not bill calls under 15 seconds or spam.

  • Posh: billing terms added from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 7, 2026): billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam billing, setup fee, contract and trial.
  • Abby Connect: billing terms added from its terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 7, 2026): billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam billing, setup fee, contract and trial.
  • Ruby: overage rates added from its help center ($5.40/min on the 50-minute plan down to $3.65 on 1,000 minutes), plus the 350, 750 and 1,000 minute plans published there. Ruby's pricing page still shows no overage rate.
  • Abby Professional overage corrected to $2.99 per Abby Minute (its terms and help center), from $3.00 computed as price divided by minutes.
