  • Slang AI is built for restaurant bookings; every alternative in the table is a general AI receptionist sold to any business.
  • At 13 three-minute calls a day Goodcall costs the least in the table, $129; at 3 a day Upfirst does, $59.95.

Our arithmetic: each vendor's cheapest published plan for that volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. Slang AI's row has no monthly figures: its page gives a starting price per location but no allowance or overage rate. Goodcall bills per unique caller; we count every call as a new caller. Taxes, setup fees and add-ons are not included. How we price.

Of the services in the table with a published price, Goodcall costs the least at 13 calls a day, $129. At 3 calls a day Upfirst costs the least, $59.95. Smith.ai AI Receptionist costs the most at 13 a day, $695.30.

Restaurant receptionist or general receptionist

Every alternative in the table is a general AI receptionist, sold to any kind of business. Slang AI's pricing page names the reservation systems it books into, "OpenTable, SevenRooms, Yelp, and Resy", and private-event tools on Premium (slang.ai/pricing, read October 26, 2026). The integration matrix on this site tracks CRMs, calendars and job tools, not reservation platforms, so it cannot tell you whether a general receptionist can write a table booking.

Ask any alternative to show you a live booking in your reservation system before you switch.

Slang AI's own page draws the same line. Its comparison table rates unnamed "Other Voice AI Platforms" as "Not Available" for reservation cross-selling and Tripleseat leads. That is the vendor's claim about rivals it does not name; we have not tested it.

A general receptionist fits a restaurant whose calls are mostly hours, directions, takeout questions and messages, with bookings made online. Its price is published, so you can work out the bill before you call sales.

Which alternative fits which restaurant

Best for a quiet line, 3 calls a day: Upfirst

At 3 three-minute calls a day Upfirst costs $59.95, the least in the table. Its help center says: "Spam calls and calls under 15 seconds are not counted toward your monthly limit." (help.upfirst.ai, read October 27, 2026) The catch: it bills per call, so 13 a day costs $227.45.

Best for a busy line, 13 calls a day: Goodcall

Goodcall costs $129 at 13 calls a day, the least in the table, because it bills per unique caller: "The same person calling five times in a month is one customer." (goodcall.com/faq, read October 27, 2026) The catch for a seasonal restaurant: "There's no pause", and dropping to the free demo agent gives up the phone number.

Best flat bill up to 11 calls a day: Rosie

Rosie costs $149 from 3 to 11 calls a day, less than NextPhone's $199, until about 334 calls a month. The catch: going past its minutes moves you up a plan, $299 at 13 calls a day, and the higher price applies to "the then-current monthly billing period and at least the subsequent two consecutive billing periods" (heyrosie.com/legal/terms, read October 27, 2026).

Best for unlimited calls: NextPhone

NextPhone charges $199/month (unlimited calls), so a Saturday rush does not add to the bill: at 13 calls a day it costs less than Rosie. The catch: at 3 calls a day it costs $199, the most in the table at that volume.

Best if you keep your phone system: RingCentral AI Receptionist

RingCentral AI Receptionist says it works "with any phone system" (ringcentral.com, read October 26, 2026), which suits a restaurant already on a phone contract. The catch: at $0.50 a minute past 100 minutes, 13 calls a day cost $584.

Against a hire

One full-time receptionist on the BLS median wage costs $4,399 a month with benefits and turnover. That is the BLS series for receptionists and information clerks; restaurant hosts are a separate occupation this site does not model. See hire vs AI receptionist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cheaper than Slang AI?

Slang AI publishes only a starting price per location, so no volume can be compared. General AI receptionists publish full prices: at 13 three-minute calls a day they cost $129 to $695.30 a month, read on October 26, 2026.

Is there an AI receptionist for restaurants besides Slang AI?

Among the services priced on this site, Slang AI is the one sold to restaurants only. The others are general AI receptionists that any business can use, restaurants included.

Can a general AI receptionist take restaurant reservations?

Booking a table in OpenTable or SevenRooms is a different job from booking a calendar appointment. Slang AI names those platforms on its pricing page. Before switching, ask any general receptionist to book a test reservation in your own system.

Does Slang AI charge per location?

Yes. Slang AI's Core and Premium prices are per location, so each restaurant in a group pays its own plan price. General AI receptionists price one number by minutes, calls, callers or a flat fee instead.

How much does an AI receptionist for a restaurant cost?

At 13 three-minute calls a day, general AI receptionists cost $129 to $695.30 a month, read on October 26, 2026. Slang AI, built for restaurants, costs from $399/month per location, with the final price set by quote.

How these numbers were made

Every vendor price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date in its Source cell and saved as a dated capture. Monthly costs use each vendor's cheapest published plan for the volume plus its published overage, at 3-minute calls. The in-house figure uses the BLS median wage for receptionists over 2,080 paid hours (paid leave included), other employer benefit costs and turnover, each from the BLS release named below. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

Changes to these prices

  • Upfirst: cancellation notice recorded as none. Its pricing FAQ says "You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade anytime, no questions asked," the same strength as other cancel-anytime terms. Its setup-fee summary now reads "None stated": no page says there is no fee. No price changed.
  • My AI Front Desk: the 1,000 monthly overage credits its pricing page lists as included ("Extra credits you get each month in case you go over your included usage") now count as 40 included minutes, so Business-in-a-Box covers 240 minutes before the $0.25 rate applies (was 200).
  • Phonely: its Professional plan card says 650 minutes and its comparison table 750; the card is used. When two plans tie on their lowest cost, the one with the narrower range is chosen, so Phonely at 300 calls a month prices on Professional alone.
  • My AI Front Desk: billing-term summaries (billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam, setup fee, contract, trial) added from the vendor-data billing-terms and contracts files and their captures. No price changed.
